Want to Make a Bundle on Amazon This Holiday Season?
By Lisa Suttora | July 26, 2008
With the release this week of the stellar Q3 Amazon.com earnings report (Amazon earned an amazing $158 million dollars in the quarter ending June 30) - came some other good news. A strong percentage of Amazon’s sales are coming from 3rd Party Sellers. Independant business owners who use Amazon as their selling platform to connect with millions of customers worldwide.
Despite daily reports of a sputtering economy, Amazon made money. And a LOT of it. With gas prices climbing, free time at a premium and an unsatiable consumer hunger for value, variety and selection Amazon’s quarterly report shows that people are still spending.
And spending a lot on Amazon.
With the holidays fast approaching, now is the time to try selling on Amazon. Especially if you sell in the toy category.
But if you’re going to participate in the holiday selling season on Amazon. You have just under two months to qualify.
Yep, qualify.
Amazon doesn’t let people pop in right before the holiday season to clean up on the profits.
They reserve their mammoth holiday profits for established, proven sellers.
Amazon wants you to sell a lot during the holiday season. But in order to do that, you have to have a few things in place before September 19, 2008.
On September 12, 2008 Amazon will stop accepting new sellers in the Toys & Games category until 2009.
If you want to sell in the Toys & Games category you must have made your first sale on Amazon prior to 9/19/2008 (the sale does not need to be toy specific).
You must ship and process at least 25 orders by 10/18/2008 (orders do not need to be Toy specific).
You must not have a greater than 1% defect rate. Amazon will look at orders placed between 7/6 and 10/4 to determine your defect rate.
*Note: Your order defect rate is the percentage of problem orders that have received a negative feedback divided by the percentage of total orders sold during a specific time period.
In a nutshell, you have until September 12 to get into selling Toys & Games on Amazon this year. Which means you start working on this today.
I can’t emphasize enough for anyone who sells toys and games or has been considering selling toys and games that this is NOT an opportunity you want to miss.
There are too many sales on Amazon during the holiday season and too many sales in the Toy & Games category to miss this opportunity!
If you haven’t yet started selling on Amazon and you want to know how to get started, let me assure that you can get set up and selling quickly!
And there are two easy ways to do this:
1. In the Member’s Area of WhatDoISell.com we have an in-depth 2 hour Audio Training Intensive(tm) “Start Selling on Amazon” that will walk you step-by-step through getting set up and selling successfully on Amazon.
The class is taught by Steve Lindhorst and myself. Steve is one of the foremost experts in online selling and selling on Amazon in particular. His recent book “Selling on the River” is responsible for the launch of thousands of entrepreneurial businesses on Amazon.
But you won’t find the in-depth audio training class anywhere other than WhatDoISell. Additionally, once you’ve listened to the training, you can bring all your Amazon selling questions to the
2. Read Steve’s book Selling on the River.
If you’d like to learn through reading rather than listening, Steve’s book is perfect for you. Steve lays out selling on Amazon in a step-by-step, logical format.
Selling on the River is the perfect companion book to the Amazon teleclass at WhatDoISell.com.
Even if you’re selling successfully on eBay, Amazon represents a tremendous expansion opportunity for you. And there is no better time to get started than right now! Last year, several people I know hemmed and hawed about whether or not to get started with Amazon before the holidays. Those who didn’t, regretted it. Those who did are still selling on Amazon successfully!
